Pivot delivers a conventional rehabilitation programme after ACL reconstruction: what to do each day, how to do it, what to measure, and what still has to be true before you progress.

It is a companion to your physiotherapist and surgeon, not a replacement for either. That is not a disclaimer bolted on the end — it is how the app is built. Every phase change requires you to confirm that your physiotherapist has cleared you, and there is no way to bypass that.

• It does not diagnose. If you report a symptom, Pivot tells you who to contact and nothing else. It will not tell you what the symptom is, whether it is serious, or whether you should worry.
• It does not decide you are ready. Progress requires measurements to be met and your clinician's clearance.
• It does not progress you on time. No amount of elapsed time advances anything. Conversely, meeting the measurements early does not mean your knee is ready — your clinician decides that.
• It does not monitor you. Nobody reads what you record. Nobody is alerted if you report a symptom, miss a session, or stop using the app. If you need help, you must contact a person.
• It is not intended to be a medical device. Pivot is not intended to diagnose, prevent, monitor, predict, prognose or treat any disease or injury, and it is not intended to replace clinical judgement. It delivers a generic published programme, it does not interpret your symptoms or your measurements, and it cannot progress you without your clinician's clearance.

If your physiotherapist or surgeon has given you a different programme, different thresholds, or different restrictions, follow them and not this app. They have examined your knee; Pivot has not.

The app is built to lose that argument: you can hide any exercise your clinician has not asked for, and hidden exercises never return. Where Pivot restricts something your surgeon has cleared, the restriction is us being cautious, not them being wrong.

The thresholds, exercises, doses and demonstrated ranges are drawn from the published consensus literature on ACL rehabilitation. They are a conventional programme, not a personalised prescription, and they cannot account for what your surgeon found, how your knee is actually behaving, or anything else about you that you have not told the app.

You agree to:

• Stop if something is wrong and contact a clinician, rather than pushing through because the app showed you a session.
• Record honestly. The measurements drive the phase gates. Entering a number you did not measure produces a gate that means nothing, and the person it misleads is you.
• Not use Pivot as your only care. It assumes you have a clinician. If you do not, the app says so plainly during setup — and it still cannot satisfy its own phase gates without one.
• Not use it for something else. Pivot is for adults recovering from ACL reconstruction. It is not a paediatric protocol, not a protocol for other knee surgery, and not general fitness training.

Pivot is not an emergency service and cannot summon one.

If you have calf pain, swelling or heat, breathlessness or chest pain, call 999. For anything else urgent, call 111 or your surgical team. The app's symptom screen routes you to these; it does not contact them for you.

Everything you record stays on your device. There is no account and no server. See the Privacy Policy — the short version is that we never receive it, so we cannot lose it, sell it, or hand it over.

You are responsible for your own device: if you lose it, delete the app, or erase your data, we cannot restore your recovery, because we never had a copy. Take an export from “Your data” if that matters to you.

Pivot is a one-off purchase through the App Store. There is no subscription. Refunds are handled by Apple under their terms, not by us.

We may update the app, including the exercises, thresholds and copy, to correct errors or reflect better evidence. A material change to the clinical content will be described in the app. We may stop distributing Pivot; if we do, the copy on your device keeps working, because it does not need us.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded.

That comes first because it is the part that matters in an app like this. If Pivot contributes to harming you and that is our fault, nothing below protects us, and none of it is written to.

Your rights as a consumer stand alongside it. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 Pivot must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described; if it is not, you are entitled to a repair, a replacement or a refund. If Pivot damages your device or your other content because we failed to use reasonable care and skill, we will put that right or compensate you for it.

Subject to all of the above:

• Using the app against clinical advice. We are not responsible for loss that arises because you followed Pivot where your physiotherapist or surgeon had told you something different, because you recorded a measurement you did not take, or because you used the app for something it is not for. Clauses 3 and 5 are the terms this refers to.
• Business losses. Pivot is sold for personal use, so we exclude loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption and lost opportunity.
• Your recorded data. We cannot restore it, for the reason given in clause 7 — no copy of it ever reaches us. An export you have taken yourself is the only backup that exists.
• Everything else. For any other loss, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for the app.
• The App Store. Apple distributes Pivot, takes your payment and handles refunds. Those are Apple's responsibilities under Apple's terms, not ours.

We have not tried to exclude anything beyond that list. Where a liability is not dealt with here the law decides it, and a term that turned out to be unfair under the Consumer Rights Act would not bind you in any event.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
